What Is a Halogen-Free Insulation Laminate and Why Does It Matter?

Halogen-free insulation laminates use flame-retardant systems that contain no chlorine or bromine. This matters because, in a fire, halogenated materials can release dense smoke and corrosive, toxic gases that endanger people and damage equipment.

The benefits

Halogen-free boards still achieve UL94 V-0 self-extinguishing performance, but they produce low smoke and low toxicity. They also satisfy RoHS and REACH eco-compliance demands that are increasingly strict in Europe and North America.

Where they are used

Halogen-free laminates are now common in EV battery insulation, rail and transit, enclosed electronics and green buildings — anywhere people may be present in an enclosed space during a fire.

Our range

We supply halogen-free 3240, halogen-free G-10, and Class F and Class H halogen-free grades rated up to 180 °C, all cut to size for export to the USA, Mexico, Brazil and Europe.
